The swimming team are back with a bang this term, read on...
First of all we have added two more training sessions to our armoury:
Monday - 5.30-7.30 (Dalry Swim Centre)
Thursday - 5.00-7.00 (Dalry Swim Centre)
Saturday - 4.00-5.00 (Royal Commonwealth Pool)
There is no minimum level required to join the team, your focus may be fitness, performance, or socialising. There will be somebody at each session to provide a training programme and it is not essential to attend all sessions. If none of these sessions are suitable, or if they are perfect please let us know. The first session of the new term will be Monday 28th January and this will be followed by compulsory training at the union.
Secondly, coming up is the long awaited Scottish Universities Swimming Championships, this year held in Dundee. It runs on Friday 22nd and Saturday 23rd February, culminating with an Awards Ball & Ceilidh at the Hilton on the Saturday night. All levels of swimmers are invited to enter. The events available are:
400m - Freestyle
200m - Individual Medley, Back Stroke, Breast Stroke, Butterfly, Freestyle, Medley Relay, Freestyle Relay
100m - Individual Medley, Back Stroke, Breast Stroke, Butterfly, Freestyle
50m - Butterfly, Back Stroke, Breast Stroke, Freestyle
Transport will be provided by the Students Association, and accommodation will be booked in Dundee City Centre. The ball will feature a fantastic meal and a night of Ceilidh dancing at the Hilton. Kilts are common and yes ladies...the rumours are true... This is not to be missed, an excellent weekend, whatever level of swimmer you are!!
